It’s not always glorious tropical weather outside, and on those cold autumn or winter days, sometimes we need a little help to stay warm. And that’s no different for our four-legged ball of fluff either.

So, what are some of the best ways to help keep your dog warm when he’s running cold? Well, buying one of the best heated dog beds is a great choice as not only does this have safety functions in place to stop your dog from overheating, but it also doesn’t have the side effects of a weakened coat that products such as doggie coats can have.

But we know that it can be scary buying an electrical product for your dog, so we decided to help out and put together a list of some of our top picks, and then ultimately – name the number one heated dog bed!

Key Specifications

  • Sizes – Small, Medium, Large
  • Colors – Tan
  • Waterproof – YES
  • Weight – 4 LBS
  • Why It’s Recommend – Safety features to prevent overheating

With safety features to ensure that your dog never overheats – you can leave this on all day while you’re at work, safe in the knowledge that your dog will be perfectly comfortable – not too hot, and not too cold!

Available in a tan color, this bed also comes with a free fleece cover that’s easy to throw in the washing machine. The bed itself should only ever be wiped down with warm soapy water as it has electrical connections.

The heating elements within the bed are thermostatically controlled, meaning that they turn on and off automatically when needed. Therefore, if your dog’s body temperature lowers – the heater will kick in, but also – if he gets warmer – the heater will shut off.

When you first receive the bed, it’s worth testing prior to use. You can do this by plugging in and placing a pillow atop the bed (sans cover), and leaving for twenty minutes. After the allotted time, the base of the pillow should feel warm, not hot, but warm.

Pros

  • Waterproof
  • Suitable for indoor or outdoor use
  • Steel wrapped cord for your pet’s safety
  • Wipe Clean
  • Removable cover is machine washable

  • Doesn’t provide much warmth

An energy-efficient product, the  K&H Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Bed uses approximately the same wattage as the average night light, and can safely be left plugged in while you’re not home – provided that you trust your own home’s wiring!

With a non-slip poly-canvas base, you can throw this bed onto any surface, and it will stay put, even the slippiest of hardwood flooring! And don’t worry – the base, and wire won’t scratch your flooring either.

This bed is a great size for use in crates; however as it does require mains power to heat – it can only be used while stationary and cannot be used in a crate for traveling.

The only exception to this rule would be when traveling in a motorhome or RV – and as luck would have it, this bed requires very little power so it won’t drain your camper’s battery while you’re making sure that your pooch is comfortable on your road trip!

There are a lot of options available to keep your dog warm, from coats that they can wear to beds that fully enclose them. The lowest setting is about 86 degrees Fahrenheit while the highest setting is 109 Fahrenheit.

A helpful tip involves initially placing the temperature at the highest level for a few minutes, so the heating pad gets warm quickly then lowering it to a more suitable temperature for maintaining comfort.  Your dog will enjoy any warm temperature especially in cold weather and to relieve aches and pains.

For the responsible dog owner, as you’re coming in from a freezing hike in the mountains, you’ll really appreciate being able to get your dog warm quickly with this bed, as unlike us – he can’t just hop in the shower to warm up.

This electric dog bed is specifically designed for easy and safe use. It features a  low voltage heating element that slowly heats up over the amount of about 15 minutes. The temperature gradually rises to 95 degrees to prevent overheating or causing your dog to become too warm.

You can feel confident allowing your dog to sleep peacefully in this bed since it comes with a 40 inch coated cord that has heavy-duty protection to resist and prevent pets from becoming injured due to excessive chewing.

Bottom Line

Without a shadow of a doubt, we would buy the K&H Pet Products Thermo-Snuggly Sleepy heated dog bed for our own pets.

Not only does K&H offer the most electrical pet beds, but they also happen to be one of the only ones that have a nationally recognized electrical safety certification, so I don’t know about you – but that makes me comfortable to use this bed for my fur babies.

Most of the other heated beds are merely pads, meaning that if they were to stop working for whatever reason – you’d have to throw them in the garbage. But, with this bed, even if the heating element stopped working, or the weather didn’t require it to be turned on – I could still happily utilize this bed for my dogs.
