The Miniature Schnauzer is one of the most dignified dog breeds, more popular than his big brother (the Regular Schnauzer,) he ranks No 10 on the list of most popular dog breeds in the world!

This small, yet rugged dog breed was originally bred in Germany as a great ratting dog to keep their farm’s pest-free.

Nowadays, many owners simply enjoy the companionship, energy, and guarding instinct of this mustachioed pooch, splitting their time between long walks, and lounging around together!

It is perhaps these three traits in particular that make him an exceptional family pet.

  • Size: 24"L x 19"W x 20.5"H Color: Green Sheepskin mat and carrying case is included
  • Size: 24"L x 19"W x 20.5"H Color: Green Sheepskin mat and carrying case is included

This rounded top dog crate from Go Pet Club is super lightweight, folds down to a fraction of its original size, and is perfect for owners of calm and mature Miniature Schnauzers that travel a lot.

However, if your pup likes to try and escape his crate, this is not the crate for you as many other buyers have complained that their little scamps have been able to push the zip open from the inside and escape.

One of the best features of this crate is the full-on, four-sided ventilation!

Many dogs can become a little stressed in the crate, especially pups or older dogs that are just going through crate training; an unfortunate side effect of that stress is that they can overheat – but with this airy crate, they should be cool, calm, and comfortable!

The base has a very soft removable lambswool pad for additional comfort, you can use this, or replace it with your dog’s favorite dog bed!

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Ventilation on all four sides
  • Great for travel
  • Folds to less than two inches thick
  • Windows have roll down covers

Cons

  • Seams aren’t the strongest
  • Zips can be pushed open from the inside
  • Very flimsy
  • The crate isn’t anti-slip and moves around when driving
  • Tips easily

  • ICrate the 'All Inclusive Dog Crate' includes free divider panel, durable dog tray, carrying handle, 4 'roller' feet to protect floors & Midwest quality guarantee 1 year warranty
  • Medium double door folding dog crate ideal for dog breeds with adult weight of 26 to 40 pounds, convenient divider panel allows crate to expand as your dog grows, iCrate measures 30 length x 19 width x 21 height inches

  • Easy assembly & portable design: Sets up in seconds w/ no tools required for assembly & folds flat for convenient storage or travel, roller feet protect hardwoods, make repositioning easy

This double door dog crate is one of the best dog crates for Miniature Schnauzer puppies as it comes with a super handy dividing panel!

That means you can make the crate smaller to fit your growing dog, then ultimately remove the panel to provide enough room for your full-size mini pooch!

Not the lightest crate, but what it lacks in weightiness it makes up for in ease of assembly, and roller wheels on the base so that you can move the bed without having to pick the whole thing up!

The manufacturer pushes their rounded corners as a big plus, and yes it’s a great safety feature, however, some faulty items have had very sharp areas.

A top tip, no matter which crate you buy is to thoroughly check over every inch of the crate prior to putting your dog in it for the first time.

Most companies have good returns policies, especially when returned immediately, and it’s not worth your precious pooch, or for that matter, yourself, getting injured.

Pros

  • Fold-down and set up in seconds
  • Tool-free assembly
  • Rounded corners to avoid painful accidents
  • Comes with a divider
  • Double door

Cons

  • Larger breeds can break and bend the crate
  • Floor rollers fall off easily
  • Edges are much sharper than expected
  • Some crates are stiff and difficult to assemble
  • Door latches are flimsy

  • Extra Security: 4 way vault door provides extra security for the travel dog crate by preventing sliding and shifting (available on 36 inch size and up)

  • Airline Adaptable: The Petmate Sky Kennel meets most airline cargo specifications for easy and safe travel, but pet owners should always check with individual airlines

This dog crate is one of the best crates for Miniature Schnauzers if you’re planning on flying domestically, or internationally.

It is worth noting that every single airline has different requirements for dog crates, so before purchasing it’s best to phone the airline and have them go through the exact specifications needed.

Made in the USA, this crate has heavy-duty construction and comes with reinforced steel doors, non-corrosive plastic wing nuts, and a live animal sticker for safe airline travel or super safe home use!

With metal side vents on either side, ventilation holes on the rear of the crate, and a full mesh door, your dog is getting great airflow to keep him cool and comfortable while on his travels!

This great crate comes in six different sizes so if you happen to be the owner of multiple dogs in multiple breeds – first of all, you lucky ducky, and secondly – now you can buy matching crates for all of them to keep your house looking neat!

Pros

  • Heavy-duty construction
  • Made in the USA
  • Non-corrosive plastic wing nuts
  • Comes with airline required “Live animal” sticker
  • Reinforced steel doors

Cons

  • Not approved by all airlines – you always need to phone and check with each airline
  • Plastic isn’t as thick as expected
  • The door latch is tricky to open
  • Hinges aren’t the best
  • Many buyers have complained that crates come with scratches on the plastic

This cute crate comes with bone-shaped windows to keep your dog cool in the most stylish way that they could think of!

Reasonably lightweight, the Petnation Port-A-Crate is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, so if you’re nipping out to the shop you can leave your pooch inside safely tucked in his crate.

And if that wasn’t handy enough, you can also pop this in the yard on especially sunny days with the door rolled open for a nice shady spot for your four-legged friend to hang out in.

No tools are required to assemble, or fold down this fabric crate and can be done in seconds by one person.

Made with high-quality materials, this bed is constructed from a sturdy steel frame, and a tight weave mesh fabric, however, it’s worth noting that these aren’t going to stand up to incredibly determined escape artists or destructive Mini Schnauzers that will do anything to get out.

Pros

  • Steel frame
  • Quick set up and folding
  • Tool-free assembly
  • Comes in six sizes
  • Made with tight weave mesh fabric

Cons

  • Mesh isn’t as strong as expected

Features

  • Chew-resistant solid wood construction for pet-safe durability and longevity | Made in Thailand
  • Product dimensions | Overall – 36.5” L x 24” W x 29.25” H | Internal – 33” L x 21” W x 26” H | Intended for larger pets – Between 25-40 lbs. | Weight limit – 200 lbs. | No divider included
  • End table design gives this pet crate a native feel that blends with light and easy assembly
  • Lockable gate for your peace of mind with solid wood construction for increased durability and longevity
  • End table style top provides an additional storage space | It is also easy to clean by wiping the crate with a damp cloth

This dog crate is designed to look like an end table so that it blends seamlessly into the decor of your home.

In fact, I’d say that this looks like something straight out of the Pottery Barn catalog!

If you’re the kind of doggie parent that doesn’t like your house to be littered with toys, beds, and crates – this will fit your neat and clean aesthetic for sure.

With a sturdy assembly and lockable door design, this crate can keep your precious cargo safe, and give him a nice private little nest to hang out in.

With Miniature Schnauzers being quite an aloof breed, it’s a great idea to give them their own space for when you’re having visitors over, just in case they want a bit of breathing room.

Assembly is quick and easy, however, some buyers have complained that they have received faulty crates without predrilled holes, or with the pre-drilled holes not lining up correctly, if this is the case – it’s always better to return than risk splitting the wood by trying to force it together.

Pros

  • Exquisite design
  • Lockable door
  • Chew resistant wood
  • Easy assembly
  • Sturdy

Cons

  • Not chew proof – but that should be obvious
  • If not careful, wood panels can split during assembly
  • Hinges aren’t the best quality
  • Scratches easily
  • Holes for assembly don’t always perfectly align

Bottom Line

Our favorite dog crate for Miniature Schnauzers has to be the Casual Home pet crate!

Providing a combination of comfort, security, and airflow your dog is in for a real treat when you buy this for him as his very own cozy bedroom!

And there is no way that we can talk about this crate without mentioning how drop-dead gorgeous it happens to be, with a rich mahogany color, and real wood finish this won’t only go down a treat with Fido but with your fancy home decor too.
